Pilot tweets #MeToo, the rest 'never mind'!

Shahzad ahmed.   New Delhi
Women in India have waged a war; against sexual harrassment and oppression and managed to capture the annals of public discourse by storm. Experiences of women from all walks of life are pouring in with gusto- be it Indian Film Industry or Newsrooms! In what is being touted as India's #MeToo movement, a rather surprising and uncomfortable aspect which has been unveiled is the pregnant silence of the political scape of our country. The lone crusader in this deafening quietness being youth leader and Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee President Sachin Pilot, who is the first member of the political fraternity of India to come out openly in support of #MeToo movement. The rest are still weighing their options.
As a coming of age nation, the struggle of Indian women dealing with sexual oppression needs to set our collective sensibilities on fire, it needs to provoke and demand protests- most importantly from those occupying the highest chambers of power. It is incumbent upon the political hierarchy of India to give a platform for #MeToo to gain strength and direction.
It has taken unbelievable courage for our women to speak about their experiences and by 'not' supporting their right to speak, those in power are being party to the norm!
